Icehotel

Every spring, blocks of ice are cut from the Torne River and stored. Every winter, they become a hotel again. Icehotel has worked this way since around 1990, some 200 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle.
Artists from many countries design the art suites, so no two seasons look alike. Guests in cold rooms sleep in thermal bags on reindeer hides, at a few degrees below zero, with warm rooms and saunas nearby. Icehotel 365 stays frozen year-round, cooled in summer by solar power. Kiruna Airport is about fifteen minutes away.
